Highlights of the Touring Route
The best of Australia is showcased on the Great Southern Touring Route.
Better still it promises unique experiences for travellers wanting to discover
"the real Australia". National icons abound and popular attractions are plentiful.
An enchanting world of eucalypt trees, lush ancient rainforests and roaring waterfalls,
the park covers over 100,000 hectares of the Great Ocean Road region between
Anglesea and Cape Otway. It is fringed by a rugged coastline and studded with some of
Victoria's most striking waterfalls, deep gullies full of ferns, some of the tallest trees in
Australia including the messmate and the mountain ash and a wide range of native
animals. At Maits Rest, a raised boardwalk takes visitors into the heart of the forest.
The “Otway Fly” is an aerial walkway through the tops of some of the tallest trees in
Australia. A guided tour of Lake Elizabeth offers the chance of seeing platypus in the wild.
