Highlights of the Touring Route
The best of Australia is showcased on the Great Southern Touring Route.
Better still it promises unique experiences for travellers wanting to discover
"the real Australia". National icons abound and popular attractions are plentiful.
The chance to see Australia’s native animals in the wild is on offer all along the
Great Southern Touring Route. Koalas can even be found on beaches as well as in the
trees, while kangaroos on golf courses as well as in the bush are a feature of Anglesea.
From June to September, Southern Right Whales and their calves take up residence at
Logans Beach near Warrnambool. Emus are abundant at Tower Hill and the Grampians.
The Grampians National Park is also particularly important for its abundance of bird
species and over 40 species of mammal have been recorded in the park.
They include kangaroos, wallabies, possums, gliders, echidnas and koalas.
